Smooth fonts in Gnome (auto-hinting)

Want to improve the quality of your fonts on screen? Then create a file in your home directory with the name .fonts.conf with the same content as the attached file.

When you're done. Log out and back in again and prepare to be amazed :-)

P.S. Auto-hinting isn't enabled by default because Apple apparently has patented this 'technique'.
